pegasus, a mythical beast
Pegasus is probably one of the most well-known mythical beasts of all time- the majestic white horse with wings is something everyone knows.
Pegasus is actually a Greek creature- born from the blood of the monstrous Gorgon, Medusa, Pegasus was captured by the hero Bellerophon, who ensnared the majestic being with a golden bridle.
However, Bellerophon was arrogant in his abilities, believing he should become a god. He flew Pegasus up to Olympus, the home of the gods, and was struck down by the King of the Gods, Zeus.
Zeus took Pegasus into his own stables, having Pegasus carry his thunderbolts, and it was thus that Pegasus became Zeus' steed.
